Stretched – ready to hang
The painting stays on its stretcher bars, protected with corner guards, glassine and foam, double-boxed, with D-rings and wire fitted. Standard for the UK. For the EU it is the default for works under about a metre, for a surcharge of £40 per work; available elsewhere for the surcharge shown at checkout (US £90, rest of world £120 per work).
Rolled – in a tube
Taken off the stretcher bars, interleaved with acid-free release paper, rolled painted-side out around a wide core and shipped in a rigid tube. Your local picture framer re-stretches it (UK £80–£150, EU €60–€150, US $200–$250); we include a size card and instructions. Standard for large works to the US and beyond.
Duties and taxes
UK: nothing further. Everywhere else: original paintings are duty-free in the EU, the US and most other countries. Your country’s import VAT or GST where it applies (for example Germany 7%, France 5.5%, Netherlands 9%, Italy 5%, Spain 10%, Ireland 13.5%; the standard rate in EU countries with no reduced art rate; none in the US) and the courier’s customs processing fee are added at checkout as one prepaid line, so nothing is due on delivery – if the actual charge is lower we refund the difference, if higher we cover it. We ship by checkout only to the countries listed there; for any other country, email us for the exact landed cost first.
Damage in transit
When the courier records delivery, we email you a link – use it within 48 hours to confirm that the painting arrived in good condition, or to tell us it did not. If there is damage, photograph the packaging and the painting, keep all the packaging, and we will put it right.
