Moments in Time
These paintings are about seizing a moment and enjoying it, with nothing to hide and nowhere to rush. A thin veil of vertical strokes lies over each picture – so the painting does not give itself away at first glance. Only as you gaze through the veil, you find out what is underneath.
By the Window & Reflections
By the Window and Reflections were painted together as the first two works of Moments in Time and are offered together at a single price.
“Through my art, I want to capture these fleeting moments and transform emotions into something that can be seen, felt, and remembered.”
Born in Ukraine, Mariia Sokolova trained in fine arts and for many years painted for herself. She returned to painting after the war forced her to move to the United Kingdom, working mainly in acrylics in a technique of her own – a fusion of realism and abstraction. Her paintings are about people who notice the simple pleasures of life: sunlight on the skin, a moment of peace, simply being present.
