Agreement
Every commission is confirmed in a short written agreement covering size, medium, composition, price and timeline.
Deposit and balance
A 50% deposit confirms the commission and is deducted from the agreed price; the remaining 50% is due on approval of the finished work, before dispatch. If you cancel before work has begun, the deposit is refunded in full less any materials already bought for the piece. Once work has begun, the deposit is non-refundable: it covers the time and materials committed to a painting made to your specification, which is why commissions are exempt from the 14-day cancellation right. If the balance is not paid within 30 days of approval, the painting remains with the artist and the deposit is retained. The deposit and the balance are paid by bank transfer, in pounds sterling, to the account on our invoice; from abroad, choose the option where you pay all charges (often called “OUR”).
Approvals
You approve a concept sketch before painting begins and receive progress photographs. One round of reasonable adjustment at the sketch stage is included.
Variations after sold works
A commission after a sold painting is a new original in the same composition, size and palette. It is hand-painted afresh, will differ in detail, and is titled and numbered as its own work.
Copyright
Copyright remains with the artist. You may photograph and share the work for personal, non-commercial purposes.
